Job Summary
We are seeking a Radiology Technologist PRN to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for operating radiological equipment to make clinical diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians and performing routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of all general radiology exams protocols for specific exams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of exam preparations and patient instructions.
- Utilize radiation protection methods consistently and use shielding as necessary.
- Assess patient lab values for contrast usage
- Obtain patient history and collaborate with Radiologist on proper contrast usage
- Use PACS and digital readers to process procedures
- Obtain and examine the procedure request for all necessary information for completion
- Follow proper guidelines for image identification with film markers
- Complete all procedures during the shift without interference to quality of work.
- Respond to changes in the work schedule as necessary and show flexibility in job performance
- Demonstrate competence in positioning, knowledge of exposure factors, restraint methods and routine imaging procedures
- Demonstrate competence in all procedures in accordance with the department policy manual
- Demonstrate ability to send images to offsite reading when needed
- Demonstrate good judgement by following written and verbal instructions carefully
- Assist physician as necessary for all invasive procedures to provide best patient care
- Communicate necessary skill to interpret age specific treatment
- Demonstrate ability to modify techniques to assess physical, psychosocial and education needs
- Capable to assist other staff in code needs per protocol
- Ensure medication security by keeping products safe and locked up
- Always verify the procedure by checking the physician order
- Observe the patient and machine during procedure and report any change in patient's condition.
- Use policy and procedure manual as necessary
- Request assistance when needed
- Demonstrate an ability to adapt to change
- Perform duties in an independent manner with little direct supervision
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Maintain assigned work area with adequate supplies and equipment
- Assist in the process of orientating new employees
- Participate in quality assessments
- Demonstrate flexibility in interruptions in workplace in a positive manner
- Perform portable exams when needed
- Adhere to sterile technique protocols when performing surgical procedures
- Utilize safety equipment to protect self, patient and visitors
- Transport patients to and from department
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
- Graduate of an accredited program in radiological technology
- Certified in BLS from AHA or ARC
- Ability to read and follow verbal and/or written instructions or procedures.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel and medical staff members.
- Hospital experience (preferred)

Compensation and Salary
The estimated salary for this position is around $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits and bonuses may also be included in the total compensation package.
