Position Overview

Role Summary:

This role plays a vital part in nurturing and upholding the institution's Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to effect positive change in society. As part of the Newman University community, adjunct faculty will collaborate with the institution's sponsors to exemplify compassion, foster unity, celebrate life, and build meaningful relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver instruction in courses aligned with academic qualifications.
  2. Provide timely feedback to students by returning graded assignments, quizzes, and exams.
  3. Submit mid-term and final grades through the designated system by the required deadlines.
  4. Utilize Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, and other relevant technologies.
  5. Report performance assessment data as needed.
  6. Consult with the Dean or Program Director regarding any concerns.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Possession of an earned Doctoral degree.
  2. Experience in both online and in-person educational settings.
  3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  5. Capability to establish and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  6. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  7. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
  2. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  3. Evidence of effective decision-making in collaborative settings.
