Responsibilities:

As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will play a vital role in our laboratory team. Your primary responsibility will be to collect blood specimens from patients using appropriate techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

* Obtain blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture using proper technique
* Correctly identify patients and label specimens accurately and completely
* Exercise judgment in determining work priority and interact with nursing units to ascertain critical priorities
* Dispose of contaminated lab supplies and handle specimens with potential health hazards according to written procedures
* Receive laboratory specimens, process them using the centrifuge, and distribute them to appropriate testing areas
* Maintain a professional attitude with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and fellow employees while ensuring the confidentiality of all hospital information

Qualifications:

* No experience is necessary, but six months of previous experience in phlebotomy and customer service is preferred
* High School diploma or GED is required
* Phlebotomy certification or completion of a phlebotomy course is preferred
