About the Role

Kedplasma is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team as a Plasma Collection Specialist. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and care of donors during the plasmapheresis process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture on donors for plasmapheresis, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory policies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering donor questions and addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies are available as needed.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Prepare equipment for use, performing PQ/calibrations and verifying required maintenance has been performed.
  • Maintain data integrity and confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Explain center policies and rules, educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from plasma, donation process, tests performed, proper nutrition, donor fee structure, bonuses, center promotions, and other relevant information.
  • Perform all aspects of the plasmapheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, venipuncture, collects donor samples monitoring and disconnect in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
  • Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Evaluate vein suitability of the donor, checking and selecting vein rebound and size to identify possible problems, and make necessary adjustments to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety.
  • Monitor the safety and care of the donor during the plasmapheresis process, maintaining alertness for donor reactions and assisting with reactions or notifying appropriate Medical Staff.
  • Facilitate donor flow throughout the center, minimizing wait time by working carefully and efficiently.
  • Perform troubleshooting of equipment within scope of training, creating incident documentation, removing equipment from service when necessary, and alerting Supervisor when equipment poses a risk to donor/product safety.
  • Provide guidance to Donor Floor Technicians and other staff about processes and procedures, as required.
  • Prepare center for audits by maintaining a clean, efficient work environment and ensuring sufficient operating supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomist certification preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum one-year Phlebotomy experience in a customer service environment, such as a medical office, retail, blood or plasma collection center preferred.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform in a manner that supports Company Core Values.

Working Conditions

  • Frequently performs work while standing or walking.
  • Comfortable being near human blood.
  • Frequently exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be comfortable performing repetitive duties as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • May be required to work flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Occasionally required to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Required to communicate and interact with employees and donors.
