Dining Room Server

Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Dining Room Server to join our team at United Church Homes, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our residents, guests, and employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take menu orders from residents, guests, and employees in a timely manner
  • Serve meals and bus tables according to established policy and procedures
  • Utilize proper food handling and food service techniques
  • Ensure tables are perfectly set, chairs are in place, and the floor is swept
  • Provide service in a friendly and timely manner
  • Execute the sanitation process, including washing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping the floor, taking trash to the dumpster, washing dishes and silverware, and putting clean dishes and silverware away
  • Buses tables and resets for the next meal service according to established policy and procedure
  • Assist with salad bar or dessert preparation as directed
  • Maintain appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family and co-workers
  • Participate in relevant educational and training activities as appropriate
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
  • No prior experience necessary
  • Must express or demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population
  • Interacts with guests, residents, and staff in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Must be capable of reading and writing the English language; follows written and verbal instruction and work assignments
  • Must have general working knowledge of and ability to use kitchen equipment
  • Must demonstrate a warm, outgoing personality
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, such as during staff shortages or emergency situations
