Luau Show Female Dancer Job Description

The Luau Show Female Dancer will work under the supervision of the Luau Stage Manager and collaborate with the Luau Show Line captains to ensure the daily operations of the Luau Show run smoothly. This role requires maintaining the performance standards as directed by the Luau Artistic Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled rehearsals and trainings for the show as required.
  • Attend all pre-shift and post-shift meetings.
  • Perform all assigned pre-shift and post-shift duties, including cleaning the dressing room and backstage areas before and after the show.
  • Ensure the daily preparations for the Luau Show are in order, including costumes and equipment.
  • Follow the daily performance schedule (line up) for each show.
  • Ensure you are dressed in accordance with the standards of each number of the show.
  • Maintain the quality of the choreography for each performance.
  • Ensure all equipment/instruments, costumes, and supplies are kept in good condition.
  • Perform the lei greeting and picture taking with guests.
  • Participate with the Imu ceremony as needed.
  • Perform the torch lighting ceremony when in operation.
  • Perform the pre-show.
  • Learn and perform all the dance numbers and songs of the show.
  • Assist the other dancers to learn and perform all the dance numbers and songs of the show.
  • Make your own accessories and adornments using fresh greens, including ti leaf skirts, leggings, neck, kupe'e, Tahitian hip and hei, and other items as required.
  • Care and maintain costumes for each dance number, including accessories.
  • Assist the immediate supervisor to gather the costumes for weekly washing.
  • Supply and maintain your own personal items needed for all performances of the show, including hair spray, water bottle spray, brush, horse brush, comb, bobby pins, barrettes, rubber bands for hair, green, nude, and black colored hula panties, and other items as directed by supervisor/manager.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.
  • Be in compliance with Hotel policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in all department and company required meetings/training.
  • Provide an excellent guest experience for overall guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as directed/assigned by supervisor/management.
Qualifications:
  • At least 1-year professional Hawaiian/Polynesian dancing experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous guest service experience required.
  • Proven knowledge of Hawaiian/Polynesian culture, songs, and dances, required.
