Job Title: Construction Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Administrator to join our team at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture. As a Construction Administrator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our project teams and providing project process guidance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist project teams with construction administration activities, including reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Communicate effectively with project architects, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve project issues in a timely and organized manner.
  • Perform quality control throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all work meets the required standards.
  • Participate in regular meetings with project teams, including monthly CA meetings and project team meetings.
Pre-Construction/Design:
  • Perform field verification of existing project conditions, identifying any issues or concerns.
  • Assist with pre-construction specification and drawing quality control, ensuring that all documents are accurate and complete.
  • Identify engineering coordination issues, unclear or absent information, code compliance concerns, or construction method quality and scheduling concerns.
Construction Administration:
  • Assist with maintaining MPS record set documents, including filing, organization, and updating with revisions and RFI responses.
  • Monitor project compliance with construction documents and client standards.
  • Issue document revisions prepared by designers, ensuring that all changes are accurately recorded and communicated to the project team.
Financial:
  • Review change order requests, providing recommendations for processing to the owner/client.
  • Review payment applications, ensuring that all invoices are accurate and complete.
Closeout:
  • Review closeout documents, providing comments to the project manager/architect for response to the contract.
  • Ensure that all closeout activities are completed in a timely manner, including as-builts, O&Ms, warranties, and lien releases.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Associate degree in construction science and/or management, architecture, engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years combined experience in construction administration and/or architecture.
  • Previous experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction industry firm.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand plan documents.
  • Understanding of building technology fundamentals.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities.
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Revu.
  • Experience with Newforma Project Center.
  • Experience with Plangrid document management system.
