Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join our Computational Genetics team. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding strategic initiatives and contributing to the identification and extraction of biological insights from high-dimensional multi-omics data. This position will involve working closely with human geneticists, data scientists, and experimental biologists to develop drugs for genetic diseases with high unmet need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and contextualize molecular evidence supporting a genetic disease therapeutic hypothesis with relevant human-derived multi-omics data.
  • Guide strategic cross-functional initiatives for exploratory biomarker analysis, target engagement, patient stratification, and surrogate endpoints.
  • Design and develop analysis frameworks to utilize data from diverse multi-omics sources, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and chemoproteomics.
  • Interact with technical and non-technical collaborators to evaluate new opportunities and derive analysis-based project decisions.
  • Stay current with state-of-the-art methods and most recent data releases, requiring reading academic papers, reproducing algorithms, and ingesting relevant datasets for analyses.
Requirements
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Functional Genomics, or a related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience applying multi-omics data analyses in the human context.
  • Direct experience with databases housing multi-omics datasets, such as UK Biobank, Human Cell Atlas, Human Protein Atlas, GEO, Expression Atlas, and DepMap.
  • Understanding of the limitations of high-throughput data and direct experience in quality control across multiple types of omics data.
  • Expert-level proficiency in quantitative analyses, including mathematics, statistics, and computation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey analysis results to experts and non-experts in the field.
  • Extensive experience with Python for data analysis and familiarity with git version control, as well as hands-on experience in developing data processing pipelines and libraries.
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, and relational databases (SQL, Postgres, etc.).
  • Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications in computational biology.
