About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Computational Chemist to join our team at BridgeBio Pharma. As a key member of our Computational Genetics team, you will play a leading role in developing our computational chemistry strategy and conducting hands-on analysis during diligence of potential drug programs.

Responsibilities
  • Target Selection and Validation: Design and execute initial computational analyses to derive an opinion regarding a target based on structure-based drug design, ADMET predictions, SAR, off-target selectivity, and physiochemical properties.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Interact with technical and non-technical collaborators, including biologists, physicians, geneticists, and business development specialists, to evaluate new opportunities and derive analysis-based project decisions.
  • Project Leadership: Contribute to project teams across all stages of a program, including target selection, target validation, lead generation, and lead optimization to enable delivery of novel drug candidates into clinical development.
  • Staying Current: Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art methods, including reading academic papers, reproducing algorithms and methods with or without open-source software and data, and providing recommendations on what should be built in-house versus working with CROs.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Ph.D. in computational chemistry or a related discipline with multiple years of relevant experience in a biotech or pharma setting as part of medicinal chemistry programs.
  • Expertise: Expert-level experience with a wide range of leading computational tools and approaches, including structure- and ligand-based techniques, ab initio methods, MD, FEP, homology modeling, docking, virtual screening, QSAR, and QSPR predictions/model development.
  • Programming Skills: Extensive experience with Python, focusing on data analysis, and hands-on experience in developing data processing pipelines and/or developing stand-alone libraries.
  • AI and Machine Learning: Direct experience or deep interest in state-of-the-art AI applications, including deep learning methods for molecular representation learning, predictive, and generative tasks in drug discovery.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey analysis results to both experts and non-experts in the field, and experience working in a cross-disciplinary team.
