Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Utility Construction Laborer plays a crucial role in preparing and maintaining construction sites, loading and unloading materials, operating machinery, and assisting skilled workers in their tasks. This position supports the construction team and collaborates with personnel within the department.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the construction site, ensuring it is free from debris and hazards.
  • Assist tradespeople in completing their tasks efficiently.
  • Identify utilities and monitor excavation activities to prevent damage.
  • Maintain and clean equipment regularly.
  • Restock vehicles with necessary supplies to ensure crews have the tools needed for their work.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • CDL Class A driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a field environment, requiring extended periods of physical activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Employees may work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This position is physically active, necessitating the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Employees must have clarity of vision at varying distances and possess precise hand-eye coordination. The ability to identify and distinguish colors is also essential.
