Job Title: Senior Research And Development Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Engineer to join our team at MindSource. As a key member of our equipment team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and technical expertise to develop safe and effective medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of key subsystems of our robotic system, collaborating with cross-functional teams to propose viable technical solutions and make decisions.
  • Plan, organize, and present project deliverables according to project scope and timeline, ensuring technical contributions are delivered on time.
  • Mentor other engineers and build and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors, identifying scopes of work and managing inputs and outputs.
  • Participate in developing the budget for the specific area of responsibility and lead the resolution of technical issues where root cause analysis requires in-depth evaluations from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
  • Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure design robustness and proactively identify and mitigate technical risks that may impact the overall product design and performance.
  • Generate and review technical documentation, including design-controlled specifications, requirements, protocols, etc., and develop and ensure compliance with departmental procedures relating to design control processes, quality systems, and regulations.

About You:

  • You have 7-12 years of experience as an individual contributor in the area of technical leadership, including at least 5 years of medical device equipment experience.
  • You are experienced in the product development process of medical device systems and proficient in using Solidworks for the design of components and creating complex assemblies and detailed drawings.
  • You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to lead self and others in the execution of technical projects, and proactive planning and consistent follow-up behaviors.
  • You are eager to own a key subsystem of our robotic system, think about how to manufacture, assemble, and test your designs, and know how to pull together cross-functional stakeholders, capture requirements, and drive a design decision.
  • You enjoy working in a start-up environment and can handle uncertainty while helping the program adjust as we go along.
  • You know when to pull together a trade-off analysis to help the group make the right decision, can clearly articulate what you did, why you did it, and what it means we do next, and see out information from other teams and can facilitate respectful debate to get us to the right answer.
  • You are hands-on and take pride in owning your work through design, build, and test.
