Job Overview

The General Manager at Nama Japanese Restaurant will oversee the daily operation, ensuring all policies and procedures are effectively maintained while meeting and exceeding guests' expectations for quality of product and service.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Organizing guest greeting, seating, and exiting with a professional demeanor
  • Training, evaluating, and scheduling restaurant staff
  • Performing administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, and inventory
  • Inspecting all areas of the restaurant to ensure service standards are maintained
  • Responding to guest inquiries and coordinating special arrangements
  • Enforcing established guidelines and policies of the company
  • Implementing new menus and promotions
  • Providing instruction and guidance for guest and colleague safety in emergency situations
  • Responding to guest questions and providing assistance, direction, and information
  • Providing leadership and support for all food and beverage staff
  • Chairing daily departmental pre-shifts and meetings
  • Communicating guest information and changes to hotel colleagues
  • Maintaining an active trace system for guest history on their F&B preferences
Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • 5 years' experience in a luxury hotel environment or similar role in restaurants or food and beverage
  • High-end Japanese restaurant experience, preferably in Michelin-starred establishments; omakase experience highly recommended
  • Passion for Japanese cuisine and culture, with a genuine interest in delivering an authentic and memorable dining experience to guests
  • Positive, engaging, and energetic personality
  • Able to be organized, manage time wisely, and work with little to no direct supervision
  • Very high attention to detail and extensive service knowledge
  • Good knowledge of food preparation, wine, and spirits
  • Sensitive to cultural nuances
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
  • Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work under pressure and with various stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance as per company policies
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry, push, and pull heavy loads up to 30 lbs
