Job Summary

Rocketship Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Wellness Counselor Intern to join our team. As a Wellness Counselor Intern, you will provide direct mental health services to general education students, as well as consultation and coaching to school leaders and teachers regarding trauma, social-emotional learning, mental health, behavior, and community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive school-based mental health services in the forms of individual, group, and therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, and consultation services as required by the student's general education plan.
  • Collaborate with and be a part of any coordinated meetings (SST meetings, MTSS meetings) as the mental health professional.
  • Maintain case notes for student services provided in compliance with the state licensing board and professional code of ethics.
  • Provide consultation with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the student's program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.
  • Maintain relationships and effectively communicate with school leaders, teachers, and parents in all facets of the position.
  • Ensure implementation and fidelity of behavior supports plans including creation, progress monitoring, and ongoing support.
  • Support with parent training to teach skills in regards to supporting a student's mental health and social emotional learning.
Requirements
  • Active and current enrollment in a Master's Level (or higher) Mental Health Program (e.g. MSW, MFT, PCC, or School Counseling/PPSC) (required)
  • Commitment to Rocketship's special education inclusion model and overall mission to close the achievement gap within our lifetime
  • Familiarity with socio-emotional learning competencies, trauma informed education practices, multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS), and restorative practices
  • Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to travel between multiple sites (required)
Compensation

The Wellness Counselor Intern position will be on the site-based staff calendar, which includes time off for holidays and traditional school breaks. Hourly wage as a Part-time employee: $18.50 1st year MSW student intern, $19.50 2nd year MSW, MFT, PCC student intern.
