Job Summary

A Mechanical Technician is required to join our team at Amentum to operate and maintain mechanical systems/equipment in support of wind tunnels at NASA LaRC.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining mechanical systems/equipment, following safety policies and procedures, and performing all work according to existing policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining rotating machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, valves, and cooling water systems
  • Performing preventive maintenance on equipment, inspecting, and operating equipment per documented procedures
  • Reading relevant technical drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of safety practices common to industry, including FOD control and LOTO (OSHA Lockout/Tagout program)

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering, mathematics, or science
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education/experience for a total of six (6) years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety, and be able to walk, stand, bend, twist, and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35lbs (15kg).
