Scientific Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scientific Laboratory Manager to join our team at the Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing lab operations, overseeing research projects, and ensuring the smooth execution of experimental protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Manage lab operations, including inventory control, purchasing supplies and equipment, and overseeing scheduling and assigning tasks to hourly workers.
- Work closely with faculty, students, and staff to understand experimental design needs and develop and update research SOPs.
- Assist with data collection, sample processing, and data entry, and schedule and oversee regular data management activities to improve scientific transparency and best data management practices.
- Supervise hourly workers in data collection, sample processing, and data entry, and train new students and workers in data collection techniques.
- A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience which has included at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Thorough understanding of the scientific method, and experience writing and following scientific procedures and protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to effectively interact with people in a positive manner.
- Experience in data analysis, statistics, and reporting results in formats suitable for scientific publication.
- Six (6) additional years of experience in related field preferred.
- Experience overseeing research throughout all stages, from experimental design through to publication of findings.
- Evidence of co-authored peer-reviewed articles, scientific reports, and scientific communication.
