Labor and Delivery Clinical Support Specialist

UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Support Specialist to join our Labor and Delivery team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same.
About Our Team
Labor & Delivery at UNC Health is a Level III referral center, providing care to both normal and high-risk laboring and antepartum patients. With approximately 3,800 babies born each year, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. We pride ourselves on being a collaborative and supportive work environment that values teamwork and open communication.
Your Role
As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our healthcare providers and nurses in delivering high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with patient care activities, such as transporting patients and equipment, setting up patient rooms, and performing clerical tasks
- Providing administrative support, including data entry, maintaining medical records, and answering phone calls
- Working closely with healthcare providers to prepare for surgeries and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient process
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols, and restocking supplies as needed
- Developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of patient care principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers, nurses, and other stakeholders
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Fluency in verbal and written English language
- The ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
