The Equus Global Mobility Platform integrates Tax and Compliance Engines to facilitate various mobility scenarios, including remote work, business travel, one-way relocations, commuters, project assignments, and traditional long- and short-term relocations. The Tax Engine enables precise cost estimates and compensation calculations, while the Compliance Engine evaluates income tax and social security responsibilities using double tax treaties and social security agreements.

As a Manager within our Tax Products division, you will spearhead the precision, efficiency, and innovation of our Tax and Compliance Engines. You will implement updates for over 200 tax authorities within an Agile framework and provide expert insights on intricate tax issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engine Excellence: Lead the ongoing enhancement and upkeep of the Tax and Compliance Engine to ensure accurate tax calculations and compliance assessments.
  • Solution Design through Tax Expertise: Leverage extensive tax knowledge to create and innovate solutions that navigate the complexities of global mobility. Transform tax insights into practical, value-added features for the Tax and Compliance Engine, in line with the latest industry standards and global mobility trends.
  • Collaborative Solution Development: Collaborate closely with tax researchers, analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, craft tailored solutions, and oversee the delivery of tax features.
  • Cost Communication: Assess and communicate costs related to tax functions to the Product Owner, establishing realistic timelines for delivery.
  • Documentation and Support: Document, demonstrate, and support tax features for both internal and external users of the Tax Engine, ensuring seamless adoption and usage.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly monitor, evaluate, and enhance tax-related processes and team performance, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough software testing to identify and resolve bugs, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of tax calculations across Excel and our software products.
  • Innovation: Engage in Innovation Day sessions, presenting creative solutions that contribute to the overall growth and advancement of the company.

Qualifications:

  • CPA/EA certification.
  • An advanced degree in Taxation or a related discipline.
  • Additional certifications pertinent to expatriate tax management, international tax, or global mobility tax issues are beneficial.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience: Proven global expatriate tax experience with 8+ years in a Big 4 or Mid-Tier accounting firm, including 2+ years in a managerial role.
  • Tax Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. employment taxes and expatriate taxation, including tax planning and compliance for employees moving to/from the U.S. Strong understanding of U.S. Federal and State tax regulations, double tax treaties, and social security agreements relevant to global mobility.
  • Tax Strategy and Planning: Proven ability to formulate and execute strategic tax planning for global mobility scenarios, ensuring compliance and optimization of tax obligations for individuals and the organization.
  • MS Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, capable of utilizing formulas for problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex tax-related data and propose innovative solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in tax calculations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to articulate complex tax concepts and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Database Proficiency: Familiarity with database concepts, preferably with experience in MS Access or SQL.
  • Continuous Learning Mindset: Enthusiasm for staying informed about the latest trends in expatriate tax and technology.

Desired:

  • Agile Methodology: Previous experience in Agile project management and familiarity with Agile practices.
  • Process Improvement: Experience in streamlining processes; Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
