Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Physician Assistant or Acute Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the ICU department at WMCHealth in Kingston, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed and accurate history and physical examinations of patients.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests based on patients history, examination, signs, and symptoms.
  • Recognize abnormalities in test results (lab, radiology, EKG) and take appropriate treatment actions, consulting with physicians when necessary.
  • Provide appropriate patient instructions and counseling.
  • Initiate and facilitate referral or transfer of patients to other medical facilities for further medical care, under the consultation of physicians.
  • Ensure proper documentation in the medical record, including history, physical examination, diagnosis, treatment records, condition on discharge, patient instructions, and follow-up.
  • Manage medical, surgical, and trauma issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Act rapidly and effectively in emergency situations, managing both patients and other employees.
  • Perform phlebotomies and IV access as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in intubation techniques.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement program as requested by the Medical Director.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with current licensure in the State of New York.
  • For Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Certification required.
  • Two (2) years minimum in Critical Care.
  • BLS, ACLS and ATLS.
  • PALS preferred.
