Job Summary

The Production Planner is a key member of the Dover Corporation team, responsible for creating and maintaining a valid production schedule that aligns with production capacity planning and supply availability. This role requires effective balancing of supply and demand for product to fulfill all customer requirements and support the business plan.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain a production schedule that optimizes resource utilization and efficiency.
  2. Review production schedules and material receipts to ensure alignment with production capacity and supply availability.
  3. Identify and resolve conflicts related to material and capacity availability, and manage communications/escalations when demand cannot be met.
  4. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering leaders to ensure all capacity and material constraints are managed to maximize manufacturing resource utilization.
  5. Communicate production commitments to stakeholders within sales, customer service, logistics, and engineering groups, and maintain relevant metrics.
  6. Manage scheduled and manufactured item attributes, such as lead times, stocking levels, and GOP rules.
  7. Monitor WIP variances at the work order level and work with manufacturing, production, and inventory teams to ensure timely and accurate work management.
  8. Coordinate customer change order requests, including outside warehouses and orders shipping from overseas facilities.
  9. Provide support to business projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, scheduling, and purchasing procedures, MRP systems, and supply chain best practices.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • 2+ years of supply chain experience or manufacturing experience in an MRP environment.

Education and Certifications

  • A.S. degree or higher in business, management, or supply chain required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • APICS certification or ongoing education preferred.

Work Environment

This role is typically performed in a standard office environment. The candidate should be able to perform the job tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Remaining in the seated position for extended periods.
  • Moving about on foot.
