Lead Financial Analyst

The Senior Finance Specialist is responsible for overseeing advanced accounting and reporting tasks, ensuring effective management of various financial operations. Key responsibilities include the preparation of month-end journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, ongoing grant financial reporting, payroll processing, and the creation and analysis of financial statements. This role also involves the preparation and review of quarterly and annual accounting activities, including support during year-end closings, annual audits, and budgeting processes. The position entails grant financial oversight and reporting in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of senior-level experience in a non-profit environment, with a comprehensive understanding of finance team operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, grants, and general accounting.
- Proven ability to execute responsibilities with minimal oversight.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
- Familiarity with applicable accounting standards and practices.
- Preferred knowledge of federal and state grant and contract regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Exceptional customer service skills to provide timely and professional support to internal and external stakeholders of financial data.
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and business practices, evidenced by high-quality work.
- Knowledge of federal and state grant regulatory requirements, including budget management and reporting.
- Experience with the Abila MIP accounting system is advantageous.
- Ability to analyze complex accounting processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve issues.
- Capability to oversee daily operations of department staff and collaborate effectively with other organizational areas.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
