Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse with Hospice of South Texas, you will be responsible for administering nursing care to clients of all ages in our inpatient center. You will coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team, patient/family, and referring hospice. Your primary functions will include assessing patients to identify their physical, psycho-social, and environmental needs, consulting with and educating patients/families regarding disease process, self-care techniques, end-of-life care, nutrition, and dietary needs. You will also implement and develop the plan of care to ensure quality and continuity of care, preparing clinical and progress notes, and applying concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating/performing patient care activities. Additionally, you will provide clinical directions to the Hospice Aide/LVN, ensure continuity of quality patient care, and promote Hospice of South Texas philosophy and administrative policies.

Job Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
Licensure: Current Texas State license as a Registered Nurse, current Texas Driver's License
Experience: Two years' experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical care setting preferred, hospice preferred
Skills: Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice, good interpersonal skills, proof of Hepatitis consent/declination, proof of current CPR, specialized skills preferred in palliation and end-of-life care, transportation: reliable transportation, valid and current auto liability insurance
