Auto Body Repair Technician

Job Summary:
The Auto Body Repair Technician is a key member of our team at Gerber Collision & Glass, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and delivering high-quality repairs to restore vehicles to their pre-accident condition.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assess and repair vehicle damage with attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve repair facility KPIs and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Plan and execute repairs, including disassembling, repairing, and reassembling vehicles.
- Use various tools and equipment, such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, and hydraulic jacks, to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage, and mix and apply filler resins as needed.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage, and remove and replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts.
- Repair or replace glass and windshields, and interior parts as needed.
- Weld and attach or fit parts into place, and prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent.
- Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure all work has been executed correctly.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies, and how to use tools required for the trade.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
