Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Therapist to join our team at YWCA Kalamazoo. The successful candidate will provide high-quality emotional support and therapeutic services to victims/survivors of sexual assault, promoting trauma resilience and empowering individuals to overcome adversity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver brief active crisis mental health support to clients, utilizing evidence-based approaches and trauma-informed best practices.
  2. Coordinate with agency staff to provide integrated care, ensuring seamless service delivery to victims/survivors.
  3. Provide direct emotional support and/or counseling to primary and secondary survivors, including assessment, individual or group emotional support and/or counseling, and information and referral.
  4. Maintain up-to-date records of clients, including progress notes, quarterly reports, and assessment summaries.
  5. Coordinate services with other referring agencies, ensuring comprehensive support for victims/survivors.
  6. Conduct groups for survivors of violence, promoting healing and empowerment.
  7. Make referrals and advocate on behalf of clients for emergency and routine mental and physical health care.
  8. Participate in clinical supervision, group consultation, and individual supervision, ensuring ongoing professional development and growth.
  9. Collaborate with and train other YWCA and community agency staff to assure seamless service delivery to victims/survivors.
  10. Advocate for the needs of victims/survivors through participation on task forces and other working groups, as approved by supervisor.
  11. Maintain all necessary records, reports, and statistics, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  12. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the job, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
Requirements
  1. Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work, with specific training in child sexual abuse, trauma, or sexual assault highly desired.
  2. Working knowledge of crisis counseling needs, brief approaches to therapy, and trauma-informed best practices.
  3. One-two years of direct clinical experience, including internships.
  4. Certification or licensure in the State of Michigan or eligibility thereof.
  5. Demonstrated working knowledge of anti-oppression approaches to mental health and best practices in trauma-informed therapeutic modalities.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a willingness to work from a team perspective in treatment provision.
  7. Ability to communicate efficiently and professionally in written and oral formats.
  8. Ability to manage stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
