About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fraud Services Investigator to join our team at Midwest One Bank. As a key member of our Fraud Services team, you will be responsible for investigating circumstances of suspected fraud and making recommendations to frontline personnel, management, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations through transaction and records research, as well as interviews with individuals involved in the investigation.
  • Gather video surveillance and contact law enforcement when necessary.
  • Coordinate with the BSA Department, Legal, and other business lines as required.
  • Respond to various fraud prevention requests and review and process check fraud disputes.
  • Identify and assess potentially fraudulent activity through review of information system monitoring and escalated fraud alerts.
  • Form initial determinations regarding additional actions to be taken and recommend possible Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) filings.
  • Write and prepare SARs following established regulatory guidelines and time frames.
  • Provide support to the Fraud Services Department Team Leader with various duties.
  • Coordinate research and respond to subpoenas, summons, and other law enforcement requests.
  • Perform daily review of returned deposited items and redeposited items for fraud concerns.
  • Perform regular monitoring and follow-up on new customer on-boarding applications to identify fraudulent applicants.
  • Maintain the internal hotlist of individuals.
  • Assist in developing and presenting Fraud Prevention training for bank staff and customers.
  • Monitor and enforce fraud policies and procedures in conjunction with the Fraud Services Manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, with one to two years related experience and/or training in bank operations, or an equivalent combination of education and overall experience.
