Position Overview

As a Spacesuit Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our JETS II contract team, working collaboratively to achieve remarkable advancements in spacesuit design and testing.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct engineering tasks related to the design, development, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and certification of EVA spacesuits.
  • Create essential documentation for assigned tests, including test plans, hazard analyses, and procedures.
  • Design and implement tests and test rigs, selecting appropriate instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Coordinate testing activities with relevant facilities.
  • Prepare and execute tests, compiling comprehensive reports on results.
  • Achieve certification as a Suit Test Engineer and lead spacesuit testing initiatives.
  • Investigate mechanical and electrical failures in spacesuit hardware and associated test articles.
  • Apply engineering techniques to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

This position is available at multiple levels, and candidates will be considered based on experience and organizational needs.

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of technical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with concepts and practices in mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project engineering or testing.
  • Familiarity with NASA testing processes.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical components and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with oxygen systems, life support systems, or LabView programming is advantageous.
