Eligibility: New employees to the State of Delaware are required for this program.

The State of Delaware aims to enhance the pool of candidates for clinical nursing roles by providing a recruitment incentive for qualified individuals in various nursing classifications as part of the Recruitment and Referral Incentive Program.

The program offers incentives as follows:
Recruitment bonuses will be distributed in quarterly payments throughout the first year of employment, commencing after the initial quarter. New hires accepting this bonus must commit to two consecutive years of service with the State. Referral bonuses of $1,000 will be awarded to current employees who successfully refer new hires in specified classifications, also paid in quarterly installments over the first year of the referred employee's tenure.

Position Summary

The selected candidate will deliver nursing services, which include but are not limited to: direct patient care, follow-up evaluations, execution of nursing care plans, and coordination of healthcare services for residents. The incumbent will oversee and assess the care provided by certified nursing assistants and assist them in their duties. Regular interaction with residents, families, nursing personnel, physicians, dietary staff, pharmacy, administration, and other departments is expected.

Key Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Administering treatments as prescribed.
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration).
  • Dispensing, documenting, and recording medications.
  • Administering prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • Monitoring patient behavior and condition, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintaining accurate records on patient charts.
Qualifications

Licensed Practical Nurse I Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
  1. Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, temporary license, or multi-state compact license.
Licensed Practical Nurse II Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
  1. Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  2. A minimum of six months of experience as a Practical Nurse.
Licensed Practical Nurse III Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
  1. Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  2. A minimum of eighteen months of experience as a Practical Nurse.
Additional Information

Conditions of Employment
