Job DescriptionJob Summary: We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our team at Texas A&M University. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department, assisting in the supervision, preparation, and institutional cooking of various food items feeding over 5,000 students daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef: Manage cost controls and control expenditures for the account, plan and create menus, produce and execute catering events, and roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team.
- Supervise Hourly Associates: Supervise and train hourly associates to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
- Develop Daily Menu Items: Develop and prepare daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment.
- Assist with Ordering: Assist the Executive Chef with ordering and inventory management to ensure efficient and cost-effective food preparation.
Requirements:
- Education: A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field.
- Experience: Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training.
- Certifications: ServSafe certified - highly desirable.
- Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation. Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet.
