Manufacturing Operations Director

This position oversees operations at the Napoleon, Ohio site, responsible for directing the activities of the operating department to safely produce product at the lowest possible cost with the highest quality possible. The individual in this role directly supervises Business Unit Leaders covering all three shifts and is responsible for the day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing plans to attain company and department goals for safety, sanitation, quality, schedule attainment, employee relations, equipment utilization, costs, and training initiatives for the Department. The successful candidate will provide adequate communication within the shift and to other shifts for proper transition and to maximize productivity, promoting Operational Excellence, DDS, and all WHQ and Plant initiatives and activities as required. Additionally, they will maintain a strong and productive team environment and promote positive employee relations, making third-party representation unnecessary. As a member of the site leadership team, the person will help develop and influence site strategies, master plans, and salaried staffing decisions.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinates and controls personnel and equipment utilization to attain productivity and cost control goals.
- Coordinates and controls the activities of the hourly, non-exempt, exempt workforce.
- Develops strategies to ensure company and plant goals are attained for safety, sanitation, quality, schedule attainment, employee relations, employee development, costs, and equipment utilization.
- Ensures and supports key initiatives, including Safety, C-WoW, TPM, DDS, TDC, Diversity, SAP, and others as it relates to the goals of the organization.
- Develops strategy for people development and implements an action plan to develop individuals in their current position and/or for future opportunities.
- Maintains positive employee relations to make third-party representation unnecessary.
- Acts as a resource to support the activities of Business Unit Leaders, Area Managers, Team Leaders, and hourly personnel.
Job Complexity
- A recurring problem exists with a piece of equipment across all shifts. The individual in this position will assemble a group of employees from their area and from other areas, analyze the problem, and recommend immediate and long-term solutions to address the recurring problem.
- The timeline for a new product introduction has been moved up. The individual in this position must assemble a team to secure ingredients and packaging, establish a manufacturing window, work with scheduling to schedule the product, staff the production line, and secure shipping to meet the new timeline.
- Analyzes area performance by comparison of standards and develops action plans after reviewing recommendations for improvement from work teams, network teams, and/or other company consultants.
- Resolves employee relations problems in a professional, fair, and consistent manner. Must deal with personality conflicts, disputes, and disagreements.
- Develops a plan of action and focuses leadership and teams on safety, quality, costs, and productivity to meet or exceed Company and/or Plant targets in each area.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7+ years of significant operations experience required.

Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment requiring strict work/safety rules and protective equipment approximately 60% of the time. Office environment approximately 40% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $105,000-$172,200. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k, and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
