About the Role

Fermilab is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team in the Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence Directorate. As a key member of our Real Time Processing Systems Division, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronic engineering solutions to advance our scientific mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop hardware, firmware, and software for detector research and Quantum Information Science (QIS) projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement high-speed mixed analog and digital hardware
  • Design and develop FPGA programming using AMD-Xilinx devices
  • Work on RF electronics up to 10GHz and/or quantum information science projects
  • Conduct data analysis and develop programming skills in Python and Matlab
Requirements
  • Bachelor's in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution with 6+ years of engineering experience, or a Master's or PhD in an applicable Engineering discipline with 4+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of FPGA programming languages, including System Verilog and VHDL
  • Experience with high-speed mixed analog and digital hardware design and RF electronics
  • Strong analytical, creative, and independent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
