Fermilab, a leading research institution, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence Directorate, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronic systems for detector research and Quantum Information Science (QIS) projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop high-speed electronic systems, including FPGA programming using AMD-Xilinx devices.
- Develop hardware, firmware, and software solutions for detector research and QIS projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronic systems with other components.
- Conduct thorough testing and characterization of electronic systems to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports to support project deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution, with 6+ years of engineering experience, or a Master's or PhD in an applicable engineering discipline, preferably electronic engineering, from an ABET-accredited institution, with 4+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of FPGA programming languages, including System Verilog, VHDL, and Verilog.
- Experience with high-speed mixed analog and digital hardware design, including RF electronics up to 10GHz and/or quantum information science.
- Strong analytical, creative, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
