Position Overview

Warren Averett is seeking an experienced tax professional to enhance our consulting team.

The ideal candidate will possess a CPA certification and have over a decade of expertise in public accounting, particularly in State and Local Tax (SALT).

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate intricate tax filings for privately held businesses across diverse sectors, with a preference for experience in C-Corp, S-Corp, and Partnerships.
  • Partner with organizations to uncover tax planning strategies and effectively manage risks.
  • Assist in Federal and State audit processes and track RAR adjustments related to state tax matters.
  • Investigate potential federal and state tax incentives and credits to optimize effective tax rates.
  • Analyze state tax receipt sourcing to determine appropriate filing methodologies for various jurisdictions.
  • Assess compliance risks that extend beyond the typical tax obligations in the financial sector.
  • Provide support in sales and use tax disputes when necessary.
  • Conduct assessments of tax risks and develop mitigation strategies, including structuring assessment plans.
  • Review state tax provisions and ensure accurate true-ups.
  • Engage in industry initiatives and collaborate with colleagues and advisors.
  • Manage responsibilities such as client communications, internal coordination, staffing requirements, documentation, and engagement preparation timelines.
  • Participate in the planning and analysis of complex tax issues alongside senior team members, guiding clients toward effective solutions.
  • Lead special initiatives and supervise the contributions of associates and senior associates.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients.
  • Enhance skills to attract new clientele, market the firm's services and products, and drive business growth with existing clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 10 years in public accounting.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to mentor department staff who are not direct reports.
  • Specialization in SALT is essential.
