Job Description

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Expert Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex data systems and architectures.

Responsibilities
  • Data Conditioning and Validation: Ensure that data is properly conditioned and validated to meet the requirements of our customers.
  • Data Aggregation and Correlation: Develop and maintain systems that aggregate and correlate data from various sources to provide insights and intelligence to our customers.
  • ETL Platform Management: Ensure that the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) platform is properly configured and maintained to support data conditioning, format validation, and transformation.
  • Data Flow and Delivery: Ensure that data flows through the NiagaraFiles (NiFi) pipeline and is delivered to downstream consumers and applications.
  • Cable Dataset Classification: Develop and maintain a cable dataset classification verification system to ensure that data is properly classified and validated.
  • Technology Advancement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements in data engineering and seek solutions to further enhance and improve our data systems and architectures.
  • Cluster Management: Maintain and improve the NiFi cluster, an open-source data management tool, and microservices on JWICS and existing standalone deployments.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 12 years with a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 10 years with a Master's degree; minimum of 7 years with a Ph.D.; minimum of 15 years in lieu of degree.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of NiFi and NiFi clusters; strong grasp of microservices and their use within a distributed architecture; excellent interpersonal skills to mentor and coach teammates.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to collaboratively interact with customers, including senior management, data scientists, and end users.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI with poly.
Desired Qualifications
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Understanding of containerization and orchestration tools such as K8s.
  • Technical Specifications: Ability to decompose functional requirements into technical specifications and tasks.
  • Software Development: Experience with software development and maintenance using tools and languages such as Java, SQL, JavaScript libraries, HTML, XML, Python, Spark, etc.
  • API Development: Experience with developing APIs and web services for integration between systems and services.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • SecDevOps: Experience with SecDevOps processes.
  • Software Solutions: Ability to design and deliver software solutions for the Sponsor.
  • Security Accreditation: Experience with supporting and leading software security accreditation processes, developing required artifacts, coordinating with sponsor infosec, implementing security requirements and remediations.
  • Automation Tools: Knowledge of automation tools such as Python, Powershell, Terraform, Ansible.
  • Cloud Development: Experience with development in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

Target Salary Range

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
