Job Title: Program Director - Mental Health Services

Job Summary:

The Program Director - Mental Health Services is responsible for the overall management of a treatment program within a correctional facility. This includes directing the activities of an interdisciplinary treatment staff, achieving program goals, and individual inmate objectives. The successful candidate will have the requisite knowledge to establish and maintain a viable treatment component within the parameters of the Interagency Agreements between the Psychiatric Inpatient Program (PIP) and the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the activities of an interdisciplinary treatment staff
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for inmates
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve program goals

Requirements:

  • One year of clinical experience performing the duties of a Program Assistant (Mental Disabilities), Program Assistant (Mental Disabilities Safety), or Nursing Coordinator
  • Four years of clinical nursing experience in the Department of Mental Health performing the duties of a class comparable in level of responsibility to that of a Unit Supervisor, Standards Compliance Coordinator, or Supervising Registered Nurse, three years of which must have been in a treatment program for persons with mental disabilities
  • Four years of clinical experience working with persons who have mental or developmental disabilities as a psychiatric social worker, psychologist, rehabilitation therapist, or teacher, three years of which must have been in a treatment program for persons with mental disabilities

Special Requirements:

  • The position requires a Background Investigation to be cleared prior to being hired
  • The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired
