**Job Summary**


We are seeking a skilled Patient Registration Coordinator to join our team at Claiborne Medical Center. This individual will be responsible for coordinating the centralized scheduling of outpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures, ensuring accurate collection and data entry of financial and demographic information, and verifying benefits and pre-certification requirements.



**Responsibilities**


- Collects co-payments and deposits based on verification information, generates receipts, and delivers cash transactions to the cashier for proper posting.


- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.


- Recommends updates to existing policies and procedures to support our values and increase efficiency.


- Notifies the Financial Counselor of potential self-pay, workers compensation, or non-covered procedures.


- Makes patient type changes based on information from Medical Records Staff and/or Care Coordinators.


- Ensures all reservations are properly documented to support departmental statistics.


- Schedules operative and diagnostic procedures, documents each procedure with detailed information, and notifies departments of special resources required.


- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-certification from third-party payers.


- Efficiently gathers demographic, medical, and financial information for scheduling, registration, and verification of patient accounts.


- Participates in opportunities to improve overall collections and cash flow.


- Analyzes claims denial data for improved collections and workflow process.


- Reports procedural changes to leadership.


- Demonstrates ability to keep abreast of regulatory and insurance requirements.


- Assures a professional registration process with accuracy rates of 95-100%.


- Explains necessary information to patients and families, such as consent for treatment and medical release.


- Recognizes situations requiring supervision and seeks appropriate resources.


- Directs, escorts, and/or provides wheelchair assistance to patients.


- Performs pre-registration process using phone and mail techniques.


- Maintains an accurate bed board and coordinates with Nursing Services.


- Displays competence in using Information Computer Systems.


- Updates schedules daily and communicates with affected individuals.


- Shows initiative to cross-train in all duties related to scheduling, registration, verification, and pre-certification.


- Prepares patient account folders by scanning vital documents into the optical imaging system.


- Demonstrates promptness in reporting for and completing work.


- Demonstrates ability to handle varying tasks and set priorities.


- Utilizes resources appropriately and activates manual systems during computer network downtime.


- Coordinates scheduling of classrooms for meetings and conferences.


- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.


- Performs other duties as assigned.



**Requirements**


We require a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or financial setting, or a minimum of three years of total customer-facing/customer service experience. A Bachelor's degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.



**Compensation**


The estimated annual salary for this position is $43,000-$55,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
