Job Title: Patient Access Representative

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at BAART Program. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance benefits and billing information, annotating accounts with insurance coverage and estimated patient shares.
  • Process fiscal/account records and transactions related to patient accounts, including maintenance of third-party billing records.
  • Resolve issues with payment and billing, authorization process, and reconcile daily money collected.
  • Monitor insurance authorizations and claim rejections, maintaining accurate accounts and fiscal records.
  • Perform tasks consistent with authorization and billing requirements, including contacting patients for payment or payment arrangements.
  • Manage revenue cycle, production logs, balances, and collections for self-pay clients, maintaining confidentiality of patient records.
  • Assist with archiving discharged files and respond to requests for information regarding accounts from payers, attorneys, and others.
  • Provide backup receptionist support as needed, checking in patients, collecting payments, answering phones, scheduling intakes, and data entry.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • 2-4 years of experience with Medicaid and commercial insurance (preferred).
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional public presentation skills, including telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures, documentation, and records maintenance.
  • Knowledge of medical billing procedures, gathering and compiling data into reports.
  • Proficient in basic PC skills, Microsoft Word, and Excel (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, program management, medical staff, counselors, and peers.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, manage stressful situations, and exhibit excellent customer service skills.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
