About the Role

The Costing Estimator will be responsible for estimating material, labor, and associated costs from receipt of project drawings to the final proposal. Key responsibilities include creating material takeoffs and labor estimates according to sketches or engineering specifications, researching and specifying materials to be used on products, creating costing documentation, analyzing actual labor, material, and cost against costing and labor reports, interacting with Design Engineers to ensure accuracy of BOM (bill of materials), and reviewing BOMs to ensure they reflect latest manufacturing practices.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • An associate's degree and 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and mathematical skills
  • Able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines when necessary
  • Exposure to manufacturing, costing, reporting, and variance analysis is essential
  • Possess extensive knowledge of materials and processes
  • Able to read and accurately interpret complex drawings and specifications
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft software
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is a plus
