Position Overview:

The Accounting Team Leader is accountable for the daily upkeep of a precise and comprehensive general ledger while preparing fundamental financial reports. This role involves direct supervision of one or more team members and is designed for individuals demonstrating managerial potential through their previous achievements.

The leader will oversee account reconciliations and ensure proper documentation of source data, both manual and systematic. Responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and documenting job processes and account reconciliation workflows. The role also involves assisting the general ledger department in enhancing processes and improving reconciliation efficiencies. Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements is essential, as is the ability to maintain these controls. Regular interaction with both external and internal auditors is expected. This position includes mentoring and supervising other staff and senior accountants, focusing on their career development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monthly reconciliation of complex general ledger accounts, including the investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Reconciliation of sub-ledgers to the general ledger as necessary.
  • Enhancement and maintenance of financial systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Preparation and review of monthly journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Preparation and review of account reconciliations.
  • Participation in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Collaboration with team members across various functional areas and external entities.
  • Adherence to internal controls and best practices, assisting in additional accounting projects as required.
  • Provision of information for auditors and involvement in special projects.
  • Delegation of tasks to staff as needed.
Leadership Competencies:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 4 years in accounting or a related field.
  • CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • Some supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with ERP ledger systems is desirable (e.g., Oracle, Managepath).
  • Familiarity with Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting (ASC842) is beneficial.
Skills:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a robust systems background.
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a large corporate environment is preferred.
  • Effective communication with leadership.
  • Application of technical accounting concepts.
