Certified Surgical Technologist

The Certified Surgical Tech assists surgeon(s) during operative and invasive procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the operating suite for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Monitor and maintain the PAR level of surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring timely restocking and inventory management.
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments, verifying sterility and integrity of packages.
- Provide patient care assignments, adhering to quality improvement standards and age-specific needs.
- Adjust hours to meet patient services, maintaining compliance with call coverage and call-in time.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment, ensuring supplies and equipment are stored in an organized manner.
- Perform scrubbing technique according to departmental policy, accurately completing sponge, sharp, and instrument counts.
- Prepare instrumentation according to physician preference cards and scheduled procedures, keeping cards current.
- Wear personal protective equipment during all procedures, demonstrating proper concepts of prepping and draping.
- Recognize unseen boundaries between sterile and unsterile areas, carrying out activities during operations.
- Assist in restocking rooms and checking for outdated items, participating in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
- Maintain adequate inventory of stack and non-stock items for Surgical Services and Anesthesia, anticipating needs of surgeons during intraoperative phases.
- Assume responsibility for care of instruments/equipment during intra/postoperative phases, including cleaning and processing of instruments.
- Demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, read and write English, and perform simple math calculations.
- Perform on-call duties as necessary, adhering to patient experience initiatives and reporting to and departing from work on time.
- One year of Operating Room experience preferred.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Surgical Tech Certification within 180 days of hire date required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire date required.
