Role Summary
The Consumer Loan Assessment Specialist plays a crucial role in conducting thorough evaluations of consumer loans, including specialized reviews as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate risk factors associated with consumer lending portfolios.
- Conduct reviews to ensure adherence to credit policies and Bank underwriting standards, including risk assessment and verification of proper loan documentation, while ensuring all exceptions are documented and reported to senior management.
- Provide insights on the overall quality of underwriting and the credit risk characteristics of the loan portfolio.
- Compile detailed reports and summaries of findings for management review, adhering to required service level agreements.
- Follow up on identified exceptions and outstanding items.
- Implement necessary actions to ensure timely resolution and reporting of exceptions, as well as follow up on overdue items.
- A Bachelor's Degree is required, or a minimum of 6-10 years in a similar role.
- At least 3 years of experience in consumer lending (including Small Business) and/or commercial/consumer loan review/audit environments, encompassing credit analysis, credit decisions, and loan documentation.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience with loan accounting and/or similar application systems.
- Additional training sponsored by the banking industry is preferred.
- A solid background in finance and accounting is essential for effective consumer loan underwriting and analysis.
- Familiarity with deposit and loan operations (payments, payoffs, new accounts, wire transfers, etc.) is preferred.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong customer service abilities, are required.
- Ability to resolve issues efficiently is essential.
