Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter to join our team at AmTrust Financial Services. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for achieving profitable underwriting results by selecting and pricing risks, managing agency relations, and developing and implementing business plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing.
  • Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the territory team to develop and implement business plans and share accountability in meeting territory goals.
  • Train territory staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.
  • Act as the referral point for the territory underwriting staff and provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of underwriting experience in insurance products, resulting in demonstrated technical knowledge of contract surety insurance coverage, risk selection, methods, and pricing.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make informed, calculated risk decisions.
  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within the area of expertise.
  • Respect for confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
