Job Summary

The Associate Director for Residential Education is a key leadership position within the Residential Education and Campus Housing department at Sonoma State University. Reporting to the Director of Residential Education and Campus Housing, this role provides guidance and oversight to Residential Life Programs, supervises staff and student personnel, and manages the central department office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Residential Life Programs, including daily management of the central department office.
  • Supervise staff and student personnel, including Area Coordinators and student employees.
  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management of Area Coordinators and student employees.
  • Assist in the creation and management of the department budget, as well as marketing needs.
  • Develop and recommend courses of action to address problems and projects, utilizing high-level analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Act as a liaison between the department, students, and the larger university community regarding student employees within Residential Education and Campus Housing.
Requirements
  • Four years of experience in Residential Life, Housing, and/or Student Affairs, including two years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Student Affairs experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Knowledge of OrgSync and PeopleSoft preferred.
Benefits

This position is a member of the Management Personnel Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President. The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience, and is anticipated to be in the range of $6,500- $7,245 a month. This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation, and sick leave.
