Job Summary

As a Behavior Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting students with severe behavioral challenges in and outside of the classroom setting. Under the supervision of the District Behavioral Analyst, you will assist in the implementation of behavior plans and track data daily to provide necessary information for monitoring and tracking progress for assigned students.

You will be responsible for providing behavior support to students with behavioral challenges in various settings, including special day classes, resource specialist classrooms, and general education classrooms. This may involve monitoring and redirecting student behaviors, supporting the acquisition of appropriate skills and behaviors, and delivering related tasks as assigned.

Behaviors of concern may include elopement, hitting, kicking, scratching, biting, verbal aggression, physical aggression, spitting, and verbal/physical refusal.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • One year of experience providing support services to children with behavioral and/or emotional needs
  • Knowledge and experience in ABA treatment methodologies, such as incidental teaching, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), or Pivotal Response Training
  • Associates Degree or higher, or 48-semester units of college
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Specialized training in behavior modification, restraint/crisis intervention technique, and strategies
  • Satisfactory completion of a district-approved training program in positive behavior supports and interventions, or willingness to complete the program within the initial probationary period of employment
  • Completion of 20-hour behavior technician training or completion of this within the first 60 days of employment
  • Two years of higher education study (48-semester units), or possession of an Associate's or higher degree, or High School/equivalent and pass an assessment of knowledge/skills in assisting instruction
  • Demonstration of previous equivalent training
  • Fingerprints and TB test required upon initial employment, and post-offer/pre-placement physical
