Position Overview

The HSE Environmental & Regulatory Supervisor at Murphy Oil Corporation plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our operations in the US Onshore-Eagle Ford Shale (EFS) Field adhere to all relevant environmental regulations and standards. This position is responsible for leading the HSE Environmental & Regulatory team, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, particularly those enforced by the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Key Responsibilities
  • Incident Management: Ensure timely reporting of environmental incidents, including spills and fires, to the appropriate regulatory bodies, while assessing their environmental and economic impacts.
  • ESG Compliance: Collaborate with the ESG Team to uphold the highest standards of environmental, social, and governance practices, tracking progress through data analysis and audits.
  • Flaring Oversight: Manage the permitting and reporting processes for natural gas flaring, ensuring compliance with RRC regulations and implementing innovative solutions to minimize flaring.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Advise operations on compliance with RRC weatherization requirements for critical infrastructure, directing necessary filings to maintain compliance.
  • Pipeline Safety: Oversee adherence to pipeline safety regulations, ensuring regular inspections and compliance documentation for production piping infrastructure.
  • Violation Resolution: Track and resolve notices of violations from regulatory agencies, minimizing potential sanctions.
  • Agency Liaison: Facilitate technical discussions with regulatory agencies to address operational issues and ensure compliance.
  • Weekly Reporting: Maintain an updated report of environmental and regulatory matters, documenting efforts to resolve issues in compliance with agency rules.
  • Site Assessments: Direct environmental assessments for construction projects, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • SPCC Plans: Oversee the development and implementation of Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plans, ensuring staff training and compliance.
  • Remediation Coordination: Manage remediation efforts for operational spills, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and timely reporting.
  • Waste Management: Assist in the management of regulated waste, ensuring proper handling and disposal in accordance with regulations.
  • Air Quality Compliance: Direct air compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to EPA and TCEQ regulations and timely reporting.
  • Budget Management: Coordinate the annual budget for the HSE Onshore E&R Team, ensuring alignment with financial guidelines.
  • Industry Representation: Act as the company representative in trade associations, collaborating with industry peers on regulatory initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 15 years of experience in onshore regulatory plans and permitting, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with BSEE and BOEM permitting requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of RRC and TCEQ regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven track record in regulatory compliance and environmental management.
  • Ability to drive results and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
