Synergy Services, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, seeks a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist. This individual will be a key member of our engineering staff, working under limited supervision, performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls, and other operational/administrative duties for an urban office building in Boston.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors building system operations and performance.
  • Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.
  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
  • Performs repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
  • Reviews assigned work orders and estimates time and materials needed to complete repair.
  • Manages an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.
  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years work experience in building maintenance and operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic controls system, EMS, and other building mechanical systems.
  • Refrigeration or Electrical license a plus but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
  • The candidate must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Work Conditions & Essential Physical Characteristics:

Work to be performed both inside the property and outside with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current, and machine noise.

Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level.

Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling.

Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery. May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds.
