About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Internal Audit - Risk Analytics/Modeling to join our team at Charles Schwab. As a key member of our Internal Audit Department, you will be responsible for leading the execution of internal audits, overseeing the review and challenge of testing approaches, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audit Execution: Lead the execution of internal audits, including review and challenge of testing approaches, and ensure the delivery of high-quality audit results.
  • Issue Identification: Identify and document audit issues, including review and challenge of draft issue observations.
  • Issue Management and Validation: Oversee the completion and validation of audit issues, including review and challenge of completed issue validation testing results.
  • Business and Project Monitoring: Oversee the execution of business and project monitoring programs to identify emerging risks.
  • Risk Assessment: Participate in the annual risk assessment process, providing quarterly risk assessment and audit universe updates to management.
  • Coaching: Provide support, mentoring, and feedback to audit team members, contributing to the formal performance evaluation process.
  • Regulatory: Oversee the completion and validation of MRAs, including review and challenge of MRA validation work, and participate in regulatory meetings.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., economics, statistics, finance, mathematics, physics).
  • 7-10 years of work experience in quantitative modeling.
  • Advanced skill with one or more analytical tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python, or MATLAB).
  • Solid understanding of financial predictive modeling fields, including consumer behavioral modeling, time series forecasting, dynamic equilibrium models, optimization theory, panel data analysis, and decision science.
  • Experience with Non-Maturity Deposit Models, market risk analysis, and interest rate risk analysis.
  • Experience working as a quant in the financial industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of model governance processes and regulatory requirements for large US banks.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to anticipate issues and design appropriate solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to articulate effectively and authoritatively.
  • Ability to lead a project team and cultivate a strong working relationship with external co-sourcing providers, regulators, and internal lines of businesses.
