Job Summary

The Specialty Pharmacy Financial Access Coordinator (I) at Mount Sinai Health System plays a critical role in ensuring seamless financial access to medications for patients. This position interacts with various stakeholders, including hospital employees, third-party payers, and pharmaceutical companies, to resolve claims and prior authorization issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process prescriptions, addressing rejected claims and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Complete third-party prior authorization requests and verify prescriptions to ensure compliance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patients with applications for financial assistance programs, including the Patient Assistance Program (PAP) and co-pay assistance funds.
  • Address and rectify denied claims, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • One year of retail pharmacy technician experience.
  • Three years of healthcare-related billing and/or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Registration with the Board of Pharmacy upon hire.
  • PTCB (Pharmacy Technician) certification.
