Job Title: Architect/Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Architect/Project Manager to join our team at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project concept, design, construction, and closeout
  • Coordinate with other Kennedy Center departments, including Operations and Maintenance, Security, Production, and other building occupants
  • Support the Center in assigning, evaluating, renovating, and modifying office space throughout the building
  • Develop project schedules, construction cost estimates, ongoing value engineering, and verification of design requirements
  • Direct project activities during construction phase, to include project budget and schedule
  • Develop recommendations for project delivery systems such as Construction Management at Risk, Low-Bid General Contractor, and/or Design Build
  • Assist the Director, Project Management in developing program-wide reports and information
  • Develop and create change management, including analysis of proposed construction change orders, negotiations of prices, and management of changes within budget
Requirements:
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation
  • Direct Deposit of pay is required
  • Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt
  • Status candidates must meet time-in-grade (see Qualifications)
  • A current registration as an Architect by any State, District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico is required at time of appointment
Qualifications:
  • Basic Requirement:
    • Degree: architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems
    • OR Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings
  • Minimum Qualification Requirement:
    • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level
    • Specialized experience includes professional architectural experience in the design, construction, repair and renovation, restoration, rehabilitation, design, or construction of major commercial or industrial facilities (multi-storied or high-rise office bldg. and related structures); and managing all, or a large phase, of a major design or construction project
