Job Summary:

The Phlebotomy Team Lead will assist the Phlebotomy Supervisors in their necessary duties, ensuring integrity and compliance for all BioReference accounts where phlebotomists are employed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate phlebotomists' schedules to accommodate clients' needs, working closely with the sales department.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients, including patients, sales, client service, logistics, and senior management.
  • Understand and instruct phlebotomy procedures, ensuring all phlebotomists follow established protocols.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, maintaining accurate records and data.
  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles, as well as understanding physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required.
  • Check test requisitions and computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Packages specimens for transport, storing them according to required temperature and following specific protocols.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attending annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results, and assist with projects as a subject matter expert.
  • Collect data as needed, perform in-services, and assist with the setup of new locations and hands-on training with new employees.
  • Diffuse situations with customers and clients, covering different locations and varied hours as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent, with some college classes preferred.
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, as required by state law.
  • Reliable car, valid driver's license, and 2+ years of experience in phlebotomy.
  • Flexibility is a must, with the ability to work based on business needs.
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent patient interaction skills, both in person and by phone.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Compensation Range:

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $26.00/Hr. - USD $28.00/Hr., depending on experience and qualifications.
