University Hospital, Newark NJ is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist I to join our team. As a Phlebotomist I, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients, processing computerized worksheets, and entering orders for laboratory tests into the computer terminal.
Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner
- Process computerized worksheets and enter orders for laboratory tests
- Retrieve data in response to inquiries from clinical units concerning test results
- Perform routine procedures such as GTT, 2hr PP, blood cultures, and bleeding times
- Perform special procedures such as sweat tests collections
- Train phlebotomy students and assist supervisor in completing Phlebotomy Competency Assessment evaluations
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy course given by an academically recognized school of health-related professions required
- Certified by ASCP, NCA, or equivalent agency; or eligibility to sit for the certification examination
