Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of controls engineers and other staff
  • Assist with the successful management of engineering programs as they relate to cost, quality, safety, timing, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop the Controls department through leadership, mentoring, and training of controls engineers, and other staff
  • Manage staffing and workload issues, including managing direct, indirect, and overtime hours as they relate to workload, budget, and timing
  • Design, implement, and document control systems for various types of automated equipment
  • Conduct the electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build, power, and design teams
  • Ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or JR Automation build specifications using standard techniques and approach
  • Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of equipment; up to 25% travel expected yearly
Requirements:
  • Minimum of five years experience as controls engineer or robotics engineer in a leadership position
  • Five years experience designing and implementing control systems in the industrial automation field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations
